Before You Mount a TV

A little planning prevents the most common mounting problems: poor height, the wrong mount, hidden wiring surprises, and inaccessible connections.

Choose the wall and viewing height

Consider seating position, glare, room traffic, and where the center of the screen will sit when viewed normally.

Confirm the wall structure

Identify stud spacing and wall material. Brick, concrete, metal studs, tile, and unusual construction require different hardware or preparation.

Choose the correct mount

Match the TV size, weight, and VESA pattern. Decide whether you need fixed, tilting, or full-motion movement.

Plan power and connections

Know where power, HDMI, Ethernet, antennas, soundbars, game consoles, and streaming devices will connect. Do not run ordinary power cords inside a wall.

Prepare devices and accounts

Have Wi-Fi information, streaming passwords, remotes, cables, and accessories ready so the completed installation can be tested.
